While the price of electricity does not stop, it is time to look for alternatives to save on the bill. Any small gesture can help us in a lot and that’s why we have compiled them all here for you to take into account.
What you have to keep in mind to save on the electricity bill
Saving on the electricity bill can become a simple task if you internalize these small gestures in your day to day.
Optimise the contracted power
One of the first steps to take into account is to make sure of the power you have contracted since this represents 20% of the bill. The most important thing is to find a rate that suits our needs so as not to overpay.
Reduce consumption
Although it sounds obvious the ideal is to try not to consume more electricity than we need. Do not leave the TV on or do not run the dishwasher if it is not completely full. Optimize everything you can in your day to day with small gestures and thus get lower the price.
Adjust your consumption to off-peak hours
Organize your routine based on off-peak hours. That is to say: from 00 to 08h from Monday to Friday, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays throughout the day. In these time slots is when electricity is cheaper, so take the opportunity to do household chores. If you cannot balance your schedules, another alternative is the flat hours (from 08:00 to 10:00, from 14:00 to 18:00 and from 22:00 to 00:00). But definitely avoid rush hour at all costs (from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.)
Avoid standby
Perhaps out of habit we tend to leave certain appliances plugged in. Well, that doesn’t mean they’re off, but suspended. And yes, they continue to consume! So try not to turn off the TV from the remote control, unplug chargers and do not leave, for example, the computer pilot on.
Use the refrigerator efficiently
A simple gesture such as keeping the fridge at an optimal temperature of 5°C and the freezer at -18°C can help us save on the electricity bill. And of course, beware of ice buildup, this can raise light consumption up to 30%.
Choose LED bulbs
LED bulbs are always the best choice. In fact they can help us save up to 80%. They are more energy efficient and last much longer. Although at first they are more expensive, the truth is that it is the most economical option.
Turn off the lights
Although it may seem silly, it is essential to remember to always turn off the light when you are not using it. How many times have we left the room on and we were in the living room? Or how many times have we left the TV on and left home unintentionally? These are things that happen and it is normal that we get lost from time to time. But we have to be very careful and pay special attention.
The key to saving on the electricity bill is in the actions we implement in our day to day. Being aware of this is what will help us achieve our goals.
